Hiking the Dian Fossey tomb in Rwanda

Volcanoes National Park is situated in the northern part of Rwanda, it is famous for the mountain gorilla species Gorilla beringei, these love freely in the forest without being captivated. It is an intriguing destination full of life, hosting some of the world’s top primates and endemics to the great Albertine rift valley, it is among the few remaining tropical rain forests of Africa and the oldest park in Rwanda, a quick faraway point when it comes to safaris of the land of a thousand hills, explore through the thick growing vast biodiverse ecosystem which was made more famous by the great American primatologist Dian Fossey and during the activating of the film “Gorillas in the mist” it is an intimate magical destination not sought of by many travelers.

Dian Fossey is one of the most known American primatologist she was a known for her great conservation policies and research on mountain gorillas she brought mountain Gorilla species to lime light in the world, her research center at the Karisoke park point, along the center between Mount Bisoke and Karisimbi was where she based to conduct her daily works, she was a referral point when it came to the mountain gorilla species, and the extensive protection of the mountain gorillas, because of her great work, gorilla poaching largely reduced. In the early 19’s Dian Fossey is said to have been invited by the Dr. Richard leaky she learnt so much about the primates and probed for their protection she did a lot of good  when it comes to mountain gorillas however this does not eliminate the fact that she must have made some enemies. It is evident as she was found dead as a result of murder in cold blood, the situation still remains unsolved to date she was buried next to the mountain gorilla species that she loved the most.

Dian Fossey legacy was carried forward through central centers, organizations, later her famous books she wrote was turned into a movie for the world to see it is based on her true life story, conservation of the mountain gorillas has led to a high increased number in the wildlife species of the conservation area. Hiking the Dian Fossey is one of the top things to do while in the national park, the trail was created in memory of the great primatologist to hike through to her tombs, enroute s a lovely growing vegetation cover, plants, butterflies, on a lucky day you may be chanced  to see the critically endangered species of the mountain gorillas and golden monkeys, it takes 2-3 hours along the trail, it is a way of paying homage to the late, the activity this can be combined together with other interesting park activities like Gorilla trekking the mountain gorillas live within the conservation area without being captivated, it is a great experience as you trek the gentle browned species, Golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes National Park, birding as well as Guided nature walks in the conservation area.
